The title is so intriguing that you simply must read further, I know... When I was in college (actually, I still am...), I had to take "Intro to Engineering I &II". Of course this was required for my major (computer engineering). Anyway, the big project associated with these classes typically consisted of making a marshmallow launcher and a vessel for retrieving a naval orange from from a body of water in a race (respectively). The marshmallow launcher's tutorial is on another page.

 

The goal of this particular project was to assemble a vessel that could be controlled in some fashion in which there was no direct human contact or strings attached (i.e., it had to be remote controlled...) and was able to retrieve a floating naval orange halfway down a rainbow shaped race course (aka, the reflection pond at UCF). Well, on with the actual tutorial...

 

You are going to need a few supplies. Most average people can find this stuff lying around the house somewhere. For those of you that can't, your trusty Wal-Mart, Home Depot, or local hobby shop will carry all necessary components.
